The Caloric Cost of Candy [infographic]

Candy is one edible that isn’t seasonal. It’s cemented its place in every holiday and occasion imaginable. What do you do on Valentine’s Day? Give someone a box of chocolates. What does the Easter bunny put in kid’s baskets? Chocolate bunnies. However, with the passing of Halloween and the upcoming holidays, chocolate and sweets are taking even more of an elevated stance in the grocery store aisle. This infographic just might change the way you look at your favorite treat during your next trip to the store.

A fun size candy bar in most varieties will cost you around 100 calories. A regular size treat averages out around 300 calories. Are you ready for this one, though? A king size candy bar can cost you nearly one-third of your daily caloric intake, coming in around 500 calories. If that still doesn’t sound like much to you, consider this: One king size Baby Ruth contains more calories than an entire box of Red Vines.

So, as you prepare to plunge into the holiday season head on, does this infographic sway any of the treat choices you’ll make? Or is this simply par for the course when enjoying end-of-the-year festivities?
