I woke up to Day 4 of my 90-day Caveman Challenge to a nice surprise: down another half-pound! That makes a total of 3.5 pounds in just under a week, and that’s even after a couple days of eating pizza, drinking a ton of wine and noshing on sushi.
Read on to see how my fourth day on the paleo diet went.
Day 4 Revelations
As I noted at the start of my adventure on the paleo diet, I wasn’t expecting to lose weight. The fact that I have is simultaneously distracting and motivating: I’m mentally turning back the clock to the last time I saw these numbers on the scale.
I took a few days off from working out to fight a bad cold I came down with a few days before launching into this paleo diet, but I’m feeling strong. I look forward to seeing how this diet supports my workout as I ramp up for the start of mud run season next month. Here’s what I ate today:
Day 4, Meal 1: Korean pork ssam with bibb lettuce and kimchi

This was a fun meal to eat. I treated the entree like lettuce wraps for a few bites, then ate the spicy kimchi afterward.
Day 4, Meal 2: Jalapeno braised chicken thighs and spiced spaghetti squash

The chicken was tasty; I ate it as I did the ssam. The spaghetti squash, though, was genius — I’ve gotta try making that on my own!
Day 4, Snack: Spicy trail mix
Tomorrow, I’ll share Day 5′s meals and revelations as I wrap up my first week of meals from Pete’s Premade Paleo and the first seven days of the Caveman Challenge.
